Ever since SAP acquired Business Objects back in 2007, Ciber’s SAP BI practice in the Netherlands organizes a BOotcamp for their (SAP) BI consultants. Also this years BOotcamp provided new insights and hands-on experience in several Business Objects related “tooling”.

After a quick word of welcome by yours truly, Norbert Maijoor hosted a SAP Visual Intelligence (ViSi) session which gave us the opportunity to fiddle around, based on 6 hands-on exercises, and explore the do’s & don’ts of SAP ViSi.

Without any hesitation Jorgen Peterse and Viresh Konapure took over and provided a guided tour of duty about Webi. Even though we thought we’d seen it all by now :-), new insights were given!

After a small break Freek Keijzer showed us how to report directly on ECC tables using nothing more than an ECC infoset, a transient provider (using transaction code SQBWPROP) and Business Objects Analysis for Office. (Who moved my SAP BW back-end cheese 🙂 )

The afternoon was concluded by a presentation of Freek Geldof and Dick Groenhof in which all of us were allowed (or forced?) to struggle with BO Data Services and with the Data Services Designer we’d made some datastores, batchjobs and dataflows. As BODS has more to offer than can be handled in one hour, a separate (whole day) BODS training will be hosted by Freek and Dick by the end of this year.

Enclosed some pictures, providing an impression of what Ciber’s BOotcamp is all about

Last but not least a big thanx to Rene Marquenie for providing the VM ware image which made all of the above possible.
